COMO MALL/APPLETREE MALL: BUFFALO, NY

Michael Fiegel's Commentary

Posted July 9, 2008 (user submitted)

Como Mall was a small mall in Cheektowaga, a suburb of Buffalo, in the 1970s, anchored by Hens & Kelly department store and the Como 8 theaters. Struggling for years, it was purchased in 1984 by AmCap, Inc. and renovated, then reopened as Appletree Mall in 1985. When the Walden Galleria opened up right down the street, its fate was sealed.

In 1991 the mall became AppleTree Business Park when the IRS took over some 60 thousand square feet of space. It is now a thriving business park.
